Breast Implants Styles

January 22, 2014

The large number of variants of breast implants that are discussed on the web can make the issue quite confusing. We can read about low profile, medium profile, high profile, textured, smooth, round, teardrop and on and on… My approach is quite simple. For a woman wishing to have an enlargement that comes in with a fairly normal shape to start with, I will suggest a smooth, round, high profile implant. A woman who is lacking volume at the bottom portion on the breast or who needs substantial lifting may be a good candidate for a teardrop (anatomic) implant which is always textured to prevent rotation. Other profiles of implants are only used in my practice for breast reconstructions when I am trying to match one breast – the one that underwent mastectomy – to the remaining breast’s contour and profile.
